Preparation of Fluorine:

KHF2 → K+ + H+ + 2F-

At Cathode:

H+ + e- H2

Time Taken:00:00

At Anode:

F- - e- →; F2

Time Taken:00:00

Reactions of Fluorine:

1.Hydrogen sulphide gas burns in Fluorine gas to form Sulphur hexafluoride and Hydrogen Fluoride:

H2S + F2 SF6 + HF

Time Taken:00:00

2.Fluorine reacts with Hydrogen gas explosively even in dark to form Hydrogen Fluoride gas:

F2 + H2HF

Time Taken:00:00

3.Fluorine fumes in moist air and reacts with water to form Oxygen and Hydrogen fluoride:

F2 + H2O → HF + O2

Time Taken:00:00

4.Fluorine reacts with cold dilute sodium hydroxide to form sodium Fluoride, Oxygen diFluoride and water:

F2 + NaOH → NaF + OF2 + H2O

Time Taken:00:00

5.Fluorine reacts with hot concentrated sodium hydroxide to form sodium Fluoride, oxygen and water:

F2 + NaOH → NaF + O2 + H2O

Time Taken:00:00

6.Fluorine oxidizes Potassium chlorate ( KClO3) into Potassium perchlorate (KClO4):

F2 + KClO3 + H2O → KClO4 + HF

Time Taken:00:00
